There is so much that could be said about Les Paul... as well as developing one of the most iconic instruments in popular music, he pretty much invented multi-track recording and close-mic'ing techniques... and he was by all accounts an awesome musician too...

There will be many tributes and obituaries, I'm sure; some written by those who knew the man himself, others by those best-placed to put Les' huge contribution to music history in perspective... I'll not presume to be one of them, but I will simply say that today is a sad day for the modern music world; one of The Greats has left us.
