Gibson has released the Nighthawk 2011. Here's what they have to say about it...
Blending the best of Gibson tradition with modern design features, the Nighthawk has been a favorite with a wide range of players ever since its introduction in 1993. Sleek, powerful and crafted with the kind of playability that only a Gibson delivers. Whether you play rock, blues, country, jazz, fusion, or a radical new music that has yet to find a name, this is one of the most versatile electrics available. The Nighthawk 2011 Vintage Sunburst from Gibson USA captures all the beloved specs of the breed and freshens them up with some new features, along with an extremely classy Vintage Sunburst finish in genuine nitrocellulose lacquer, which shows off this guitar's stunning Grade-AAA quilted maple top like never before. Complemented by gold-plated hardware, gold top-hat control knobs and vintage-style tuners with pearloid keystone buttons, this is possibly the most elegant Nighthawk ever produced. But this beast's beauty runs far more than skin deep.
The Nighthawk has been designed from the ground up to provide superb resonance and sustain, the cornerstones of great tone. Its chambered poplar body is light, solid, and rings with overtones, while its Grade-AAA quilted maple top not only looks superb, but also adds bite and clarity to the overall sonic brew. A solid, glued-in maple neck and a scale length of 25 1/2" yield all the chime and twang of longer-scale guitars, while classic Gibson set-neck construction gives all the punch and endless sustain that you'd expect from any great double-'bucker axe. Through-body stringing coupled with a unique and highly adjustable Nighthawk bridge and a PLEK-cut Corian nut further enhance resonance and sustain, as does a more traditional element of Gibson construction, the back-angled headstock on this one-piece maple neck with fast, slim profile.
For firepower, the Nighthawk 2011 Vintage Sunburst packs a pair of Gibson's popular BurstBucker humbuckers--loaded in with double-black open coils--a BB1 in the neck position and a slightly hotter BB2 in the bridge. Made with Alnico II magnets and authentic 42-AWG enamel-coated wire, these are some of the most accurate reproductions of vintage PAF humbuckers available today. On the Nighthawk 2011 Vintage Sunburst, however, they are enhanced with independent push-pull switching on the master volume and master tone controls to split the coils of each unit, yielding useful single-coil tones. Use the five-way switch to combine these with the Ceramic 8 blade pickup in the middle position and you can achieve just about any electric guitar tone under the sun from the Nighthawk 2011 Vintage Sunburst.
All guitars come protected in a black Gibson hardshell case and include a Gibson owner's manual and adjustment literature, along with Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Support.
