Learn Guitar From Eric Johnson

Learn Cliffs Of Dover from app 17-Aug-11

On The Music Path have released an Eric Johnson iPad app; a 70-minute-long lesson taking you through some of his most famous songs and techniques.

The lesson was shot in HD, and was filmed by Alan Kozlowski – an Academy award-winning cinematographer.

The app includes a number of play-along lessons, with full notation and tab, and a full lesson of his most famous song 'Cliffs Of Dover', presented by Johnson.

He breaks down the song, as you can see in the video above, playing the song at half-tempo and full-tempo, with a split-screen shot of his left and right hands.

Eric Johnson commented on the app:

“This is the most compelling and cutting edge method for learning how to play the guitar I’ve ever seen.”

He is My Guitar Hero !!!!!

chrisv0n 01-Feb-12 01:27 AM

he always use fuzz drive..or something like that..and his overdrive's tone is always like that..maybe mid-tone or in the range of 1 - 10, he uses 3 maybe 4...as far as my own research is correct..hahaha... try using fuzz as your dirty sound using a strat, set the tone to 3 or 4...see what I mean..

terzolilu 31-Jan-12 06:34 PM

well it's impressive for sure... for an ipad... but I still prefer a Fender Twin reverb from the '70

Arthas693 30-Jan-12 02:20 PM

ok, and how can i play this?

janithemani 29-Jan-12 05:09 PM

I preferred his older distortion than this fuzz, but every time you hear johnson playing you just know its him : )

HaHaHamHammer 28-Jan-12 08:19 PM

Thank god there are still technichal players who like to use Strats.

Unless your hands are damaged, you do have hands like that, and you can learn to play this. Like anything else, string skipping is just a skill to be drilled until you have it down, if you want it bad enough to keep at it. Watch his right hand closely, and you'll notice that he makes it easy on himself with hybrid picking, while John McLaughlin would just pick the whole thing.

jackwontknow1 06-Jan-12 05:39 AM

nah most Jazz players do that. but yeah his tone still rocks

nop220 02-Jan-12 01:00 PM
