Gibson Custom releases a new trophy guitar for anyone with $7000 to spare 18-Aug-11
Gibson Custom has announced the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul - one for the dentists, lawyers and bankers we think...
Here's all the details that Gibson has released...
As the most celebrated electric guitar in rock, the Gibson Les Paul provides the perfect template to honor the history of the music itself. An association recognized the world over as a marriage between a great American musical form and great American guitar making, Gibson guitars and rock and roll are inseparable, a tribute each to the other. To celebrate the enshrined posterity of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, Gibson Custom presents the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul, an instrument crafted in the great tradition of "trophy guitars"--guitars created as highly customized honorary showpieces. According to Gibson tradition, such guitars are crafted in extremely limited numbers, and are usually snatched up by collectors the second they hit the market.
To do justice to this celebration of rock itself, Gibson Custom has pulled out all the stops: the cornerstone is a Les Paul Standard, perhaps the most iconic electric guitar in Rock 'n' Roll history. But the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul is so much more. The guitar is stained in Antique Ebony and adorned with a finely wrought image of the illuminated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame complex, then finished in high-gloss, hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer. To further enhance the look of this showpiece Les Paul, the fingerboard has been upgraded to ebony with Mother-of-Pearl block inlays and it has been given all gold hardware. In addition, the pickup covers, truss rod cover and back control plates are all engraved with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame logo. Stunning, radiant, unique--this is truly a Les Paul like no other, and a must-have for the case of any serious collector.
But no mere museum piece, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul is also a first-class player's guitar. Beneath the highly adorned pickup covers sits a pair of Gibson's acclaimed 57 Classics, humbucking pickups crafted in the image of the finest original PAF pickups of the late '50s and early '60s, yet upgraded with wax potting to prevent microphonic squeal at high volume levels. A carved maple top and one-piece mahogany back (strategically weight relieved) offer the Les Paul's legendary blend of richness, depth, bite and edge. And even the hardware itself helps to take this monster over the top: high-quality Grover® tuners offer the efficiency and solidity that has helped make them a popular upgrade for more than 50 years, while a Gibson TP6 "Fine Tuner" tailpiece offers instant precision fine-tuning control from the body end. Both a showpiece and the ultimate player's guitar, this instrument is truly a fitting tribute to the history of Rock and Roll.
Each example of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul includes a Certificate of Authenticity, and comes protected in a black Gibson Custom hardshell case, with owner's manual and coverage by Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 Customer Service. Features
