Dr Z Amp Upgraded

The Monza gets a master volume for drive and grind at very low volume levels 15-Feb-12

Dr Z tells us that the Monza has been upgraded for 2012 with a post phase inverter master volume and 16 ohm speaker out. It is now possible to get all the drive and grind the Monza is capable of at very low volume levels. Here's what Dr Z has to say...

The addition of the master really lets you get the most from the amp. Plus, when you turn the master all the way up it is completely out of the circuit. The Monza is a gain and sustain monster. It excels at giving your fingers back what they put in with the feel and response of an amp 5x its power. Chords ring strong while single notes rise and bloom. It's like harnessing the power and response of a 100 watt stack without clearing the first 20 rows.

The Monza features Volume, Drive,Tone, and Master controls. This isn't your traditional master volume set up. The volume controls the clean to dirt range while the drive adds more sustain and depth as you turn it up. Notes just keep getting bigger and bigger. With Drive and Volume at 12:00 you get a brilliant gain sound that is effortless to play. The Monza is very touch sensitive to pick dynamics and backing off the volume on your guitar for a great clean sound. Turning the volume and drive up to higher levels will bring on an excellent fuzz face type drive that will collapse and bloom with no need for pedals. To put it simply, you'll have a very broad range of gain sounds at your fingertips with just a guitar, amp, and cable. With the master volume control you can have your sound in the bedroom, the studio, and the stage.

The Monza is available as a head, 1x10, 1x12, and 2x10 combo. The 1x10 features the Red Fang alnico 10 made by Eminence. This is an awesome sounding combination in a very portable package.

Why make a change to GREAT amp by adding a Master Volume. The amp is truly a one-trick-pony....but boy, it does that trick better than any amp I've encountered in a compact size. This amp was meant to be played louder and has stunning, singing sustain & beautiful natural compression.

If you need more a gain a bedroom level, add an OD pedal! The Monza takes pedals extremely well. Personally I own a Monza head the I use live and A/B with a Bogner Barcelona for clean tones.
