2013 Women's Music Summit Announced


The Women's International Music Network (The WiMN), an organization uniting women who work in all facets of the music and audio industries, has announced the second annual Women's Music Summit. Taking place July 26 - 28, 2013 at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, this event brings together women of all ages, skill levels and instruments with artist instructors and industry experts.

For the 2013 Women's Music Summit, The WiMN joins in partnership with Musicians Institute. MI's state-of-the-art performing, recording and meeting facilities and ideal location in the heart of Hollywood make it the perfect setting for the Women's Music Summit.

Produced by music industry veteran and The WiMN founder Laura B Whitmore, the 2013 Women's Music Summit initial guest artist announcements include Michael Jackson guitar legend Jennifer Batten, American Idol guest saxophonist and jazz chart topper Mindi Abair, award-winning pianist and TV/film composer Starr Parodi, and renowned vocal coach/Los Angeles Women In Music President Leanne Summers.These artists will share their techniques, knowledge and experiences with Summit participants, with opportunities for intimate discussion and Q&A sessions.

The Women's Music Summit will also hold a number of panels and workshops. Ranging in topic from PR and promotions, to social media marketing, publishing, licensing, and more, the panels are geared toward helping independent artists improve their business technique as well as their artistic craft. Panelists from top publishers, licensing companies, PR agencies, record labels and more to be announced soon. 

The inaugural Women's Music Summit took place last year in Upstate New York, and featured performances, workshops and classes from artists Meshell Ndegeocello, Melissa Auf der Maur, Malina Moye and Marnie Stern. The Summit garnered national attention from a number of media outlets including The Boston Globe, Guitar World, American Songwriter, The Village Voice, Bust Magazine, Billboard, Guitar Player Magazine and many more.

Additional guest artists and panelists will be announced in the coming weeks.
