NAMM 2014: New Digitech Multi-FX - RP360/RP360XP

DigiTech has announced the introduction of its RP360 XP and RP360 multi-effects pedals, two guitar floor processors that offer over 160 effects and amp models, 198 presets, USB streaming for recording directly into a computer and much more. Digitech says that the RP360 XP and RP360 feature an all-new design that makes it easier than ever to access hundreds of sounds and lets players create their own personalised guitar tones.

The RP360 XP and RP360 are identical except the RP360XP includes an expression pedal. Digitech says that both provide state-of-the-art modelling of 82 stompboxes, 54 amplifiers and 26 speaker cabinets inspired by the world's best-selling pedals and iconic amps. Along with the incredible variety of effects, the RP360 XP and RP360 offer 60 built-in drum patterns, a 40-second looper and numerous additional features.

Scott Klimt, marketing manager, DigiTech, told us, "DIgiTech's RP Series processors are the most popular multi-effects processors in the world and the new RP360 XP and RP360 build upon that success with features that make them ideal performance and recording tools. With the RP360XP and RP360, guitarists have access to a remarkable variety of classic and contemporary sounds, and can digitally record them right onto a computer without the need for any additional interface or hardware."

Both pedals' USB streaming audio capability allow recording to a computer using popular software such as GarageBand, Pro Tools, Reason, Ableton, Cubase and others. In addition, DigiTech's Nexus free preset editor lets users create, manage and load presets on the RP360XP and RP360 from their computer.

Both pedals offer a host of additional useful features including a built-in tuner, headphone output, Sound Check that tests the settings of presets for the room's acoustics and 1/4-inch inputs and outputs.

The RP360 XP and RP360 feature an all-new design with a large LCD display, simplified control layout and three footswitches that let players easily access all the pedals' sounds, tweak them to their preferences and save their own personalised guitar tones. Amps and pedals can be configured in any order in the signal chain and can even be removed to simplify setting up your tone by using only the effects that are needed. Three footswitch modes provide flexible control during live performance – Stompbox mode provides 3 effect on/off footswitches, Preset mode gives the user preset up/down navigation through all the RP's presets, and Bank mode gives you direct access to 3 presets per bank. And the RP360XP's expression pedal lets players control any of the effects parameters on the fly.

Pricing and Availability:

The DigiTech RP360 XP and RP360 multi-effects pedals will be available in the UK in January 2014 at £179 and £135 RRP inc VAT respectively.
