We heard rumours of a $6000 guitar cable on display at NAMM 2014, so we went to check it out for ourselves.

The rumours were true, Analysis Plus designed the cable, which uses pure gold in the wiring, and works out at a cost of $599 per foot.

Here's what Analysis Plus have to say about the 'Golden Oval' cable:

"Our patented oval design partners with pure gold over Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) to create a LITZ wire absolutely without equal. This 100% shielded coverage incorporates a meticulous designed conductive sheath eliminates microphonic movement noise.

"Proprietary FEP dielectric provides the optimal impedance and it is made in the USA. This heirloom quality cable that dares you to compare it to any other cable on the market."

Watch the video above to see the $6000 guitar cable.

$6000 - that's a lot of cheese.

Fuckin comical. Will it make people play better? No, Will it match Jimmy Hendrix's dirty sound no? Will it sell to dickheads with more money than sense or talent, Yes. A really stupid unnecessary product.

I am an electronic engineer and I can tell you that 99.99% of people will not hear a difference from a $24.99 cable. Especially if you are hard driving the amp into distortion that would be 100%.

Good luck to them. People who would spend this on a guitar lead deserve to be fleeced.

This $6000.00 cable will be pretty valuable scrap when it is done its usufull service life. That may make it a better deal than a 24.95 cable that only works for a few months.
