Ernie Ball's Loudest, Strongest, Most Expressive Strings

M-Steel strings in stores now - contest launched to win gear   28-Mar-14

Ernie Ball has announced that the highly anticipated M-Steel electric guitar strings have officially hit stores. M-Steel strings are available now at select music retailers nationwide for $12.99 in five popular Slinky gauges: Super, Regular, Hybrid, Power, and Skinny Top Heavy Bottom.

A spokesperson told us, "Furthering Ernie Ball's commitment to providing musicians with cutting edge tools, the innovative and inventive M-Steels are Ernie Ball's loudest, most expressive strings yet, providing increased output, frequency response, and strength."

Short for "maraging steel" -- an extremely strong alloy used in high-stress applications for the aerospace and defense industries -- M-Steel wound strings are comprised of Ernie Ball's patented Super Cobalt alloy wrapped around a maraging steel hex core, producing a richer, fuller tone with powerful low-end response. M-Steel plain strings are made from specially tempered steel for maximum fatigue resistance, resulting in a stronger, more durable string. A patented winding of steel around the ball end of M-Steel plain strings reduces slippage, resists breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain string.

To celebrate the introduction of M-Steel strings, Ernie Ball is launching the M-Steel Madness, contest. Starting April 1st, fans will be asked to post videos or photos to their social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Google+) of themselves with their newly purchased M-Steel strings using the hashtag #msteel. One lucky winner will be chosen at random on July 1st, and receive a prize package including a vintage or boutique amplifier and other exclusive musical gear. Full contest details will be announced shortly.
