Modular Patch - Tablas Using Harvestman Modules

Zorlon Cannon and Piston Honda MKII   10-Apr-14

Youtube user CVnaut posted an interesting and pretty darned authentic Tabla patch using but two Harvestman modules - the Piston Honda Mk II a Wavetable oscillator with variable interpolation resolution, and the Zorlon Cannon a dual voltage controlled random generator for pulse signals and pitched digital noise.

CVnaut writes:

A simple "tablas simulator". Zorlon Cannon generates the rhythmic patterns in sync with the incoming clock pulse, and Piston Honda provides the sound. The channel A Mix out (which has been carefully tweaked to create an interesting pattern) is used to trigger Function, whose envelope controls Optomix to create the basic tabla hits. One of the separate outs (with a rather sparse pattern) from Zorlon Cannon A triggers Maths ch4 which modulates Piston Honda's Z-axis to create the accents. In parallel, all the separate outs from Zorlon Cannon A are patched into Doepfer A-172 Max/Min, which functions as a simple logic module in this patch. The Min Out (i e the AND function, which will trigger only when all four channels strike at the same time) is routed to Maths ch1, which is used as a negative pitch envelope on Piston Honda -- This creates the characteristic bended slaps. Finally, some spring reverb is added from the A-199.

Send us your cool patches - we'd love to hear them!
