Spectrasonics New Keyscape Instrument Is Here

Spectrasonics today unveiled the fourth in their virtual instrument range. Its called Keyscape - Collector Keyboards and represents 10 years of acquisition, restoration and sampling of many landmark mechanincal keyboard instruments. It contains renditions of the classics - LA Custom Yamaha C7 Grand, CP70,  Rhodes, Wurly, Clavinet, Celeste, but also some real rarities - Electric Harpsichord, 1946 Rhodes pre piano, a selection of toy pianos, Harmochord, Weltmeister Basset 1&2 and more.

The process was clearly a meticulous one: "The process began with going to the ends of the earth to find and restore each one of these rare and incredibly special instruments with the top technicians and expert craftsmen from each discipline. We even went as far as spending years redoing these instruments from scratch again and again until they were totally right."

Each of the 36 instruments within Keyscape has custom controls and behaviours utilized by Spectrasonic's STEAM playback and synthesis engine, Keyscape can also be integrated within Omnisphere as a sub instrument.

From the video, clearly Keyscape is designed to be a players instrument, though with the Steam engine and FX, plenty of out there sounds are available too.
