We brought you initial news of Mogees some time ago with the story Play Kettle Drums On A Real Kettle. Now, Mogees has announced the release of Mogees KEYS, the new app for iOS, free to download for all Mogees Pro and Play owners

They say that the focus with Mogees Keys is on instant musicality. Just stick your Mogees sensor to any object, plug it into your iPhone or iPad, open the app and all of the vibrations you create as you play are transformed into arpeggios and chords using one of the available physical modelling re-synthesisers - the video shows skateboards and peanuts being used as musical instruments!

Play the World
By sticking your Mogees Vibration Sensor to any object in the real world, you can pick up all of the vibrations you create as you perform on the object you are playing. By plugging the sensor into your iPhone or iPad's headphone jack, all of the vibrations are captured as audio and analysed and resynthesised instantly into musical sound by the Mogees KEYS app.

Create flowing arpeggios and chord progressions
Mogees Keys allows you to quickly create musical grooves and melodic sequences with a huge amount of harmonic and timbral variety through intuitive note and scale selection. Just choose the scale and key of your choice, then toggle on and off the notes you wish.

Velocity sensitive control
With each tap on the object you are playing, KEYS will move one by one through your selected notes. Hard hits can be used to trigger all notes at once, creating chords based on how hard you play. The bottom grey keyboard allows you to quickly shift all notes up and down, adding the possibility of moving chord progressions.

Arpeggiate anything
Choose from a range of arpeggio styles to find the groove you're looking for. Hard hits can also be used to simply reset the arpeggio by taking you back to the first note, allowing for more intricate melodic patterns.

Over 88 Sound Presets

Mogees KEYS includes three sound engines with more to come in future updates.

• Muon: Mogees' signature physical modelling resynthesiser
• Scope: A realistic and dynamic steel string resonator
• Chow: A classic FM synth

 

Each preset is also customisable, with the synthesis parameters for all sounds endlessly tweakable.

Record, share, and control
Mogees Keys allows you to record and share your performances from within the App.
Keys is also compatible with Audio Copy, Audiobus*, and Inter-App Audio* allowing you to use it alongside popular music apps such as GarageBand and LoopyHD.

Inter-App MIDI and MIDI over wifi also allow you to control other synthesisers and music software using Mogees Keys*
