NAMM 2018: New Pocket Operators


Teenage Engineering has introduced the complete third generation pocket operator family, which they say introduces new silver and copper members, all with golden features. A spokesperson told us, "Sample anything, anywhere with the new pocket operator PO-33 K.O! Record and process your voice using the eight different voice characters of PO-35 speak. Add drums and percussion with PO-32 tonic."

Here are brief descriptions direct from Teenage Engineering...

PO-32 tonic: drum synthesizer with built-in microphone for import / export functionality.

unique to PO-32 tonic is its wide range of sonic capabilities. use it stand-alone or use it together with the desktop version of sonic charge microtonic, to shape sounds, generate patches and pattern data, and have that transferred wirelessly back to the PO-32 tonic.


PO-33 K.O!: micro sampler with 40 second sample memory and built-in recording microphone.

sample any sound source using line in or the built in microphone. melodic mode lets you play chromatic melodies and drum mode lets you play drums. sequence it all and add effects on top.


PO-35 speak: vocal synthesizer and sequencer with 8 different voice characters. built-in microphone for recording your own phrases.

PO-35 speak is based on linear predictive coding and was programmed by magnus lidström. use the built in microphone to instantly record your own voice, and completely change its character. play with it, sequence it and add effects and drums on top.
