NAMM 2018: New Roland Digital Grand Piano

Roland has announced the GP609 Digital Piano, which they describe as a stylish and sophisticated grand piano. Here's the details in their own words...

The GP609 features Roland's advanced piano technologies for premium tone and touch, plus a multi-channel speaker system that provides top-quality sound for piano playing and casual music listening. And with onboard Bluetooth® support, users can connect with mobile devices to stream music and work with various music apps. Available in polished ebony or polished white, the GP609 brings majesty and elegance to any space, from private homes and houses of worship to hotels, restaurants, schools, and other venues.

Thanks to its advanced digital design, the GP609 offers many practical benefits over a traditional acoustic piano. To start, it's nearly half the weight, making it much easier to move and install. In addition, the instrument's volume is easily controlled, and the sound engine never needs tuning and other costly maintenance.

Roland's SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling technology delivers supremely realistic piano sound, with complex tone that naturally responds to the player's dynamics. Complementing the sound engine is the innovative PHA-50 hybrid keyboard, which combines wood and molded materials for traditional playability and lasting durability.

The GP609 also includes numerous onboard features for education and enjoyment, including split/layer capability, Twin Piano mode, a metronome, and a recorder. Working with Roland's Piano Partner 2 and Piano Designer apps via Bluetooth unlocks even more possibilities, allowing users to access extended piano functions, play with rhythm accompaniments, customize piano sounds, and more.
