Conclusion
I’m a recent convert to MIDI controllers and with the Control Freak Live Kenton have hit the spot. My personal preference is for knobs over faders although I wouldn’t mind just one fader to use as for the level control for audio channels. The fact is that knobs just seem to work better for a number of applications. The lack of overlay cards is a slight drawback, but you can always make up your own. I’m going to do just that.
Control Freak Live: £249.50 / $299 US Control Freak Studio: £299.89 / $399 US
New Info Kenton have informed me that, in response to customer feedback, they will shortly be replacing the existing Freak Live with a new ‘stretched’ version with the knobs spaced slightly further apart. The dimensions of this new model are 306mm x 160mm x 55mm.
