"it's a must have!"

What a work horse this mic is. If you are on a budget and you want a great all around microphone... this would be it. It can basically do it all. Great on snares, electric guitar amps but I've done toms/vocals/acoustic guitar/overheads with this mic.

highly recommended in your toolbox of mics.

It's already known that the SM-57's and 58's are highly used by professionals and very dependable. That's why you'll see people who have like dozens of these in their setup. Just make sure you shop around for the best prices and don't get ripped off.

This has to be the most versatile of all dynamic mics. If I had to record an album using only one model of mic it would have to be a 57.

The most obvious uses are for recording snare drums and guitar amplifiers, it is my first choice mic for both of these applications, but it can also work well on vocals particularly if the singer wants to use a hand-held mic rather than one on a stand. If you are after a loud distorted in-yer-face vocal for effect just get real close to one of these.
