Solid machine but needs attention like any other. Pinch roller wear is a problem if you don't clean them manually. Good front panel layout typical of the times but the display is hard to read in a well lit room. Bought both of mine used and after some simple service they work and track very well, they will play poorly recorded tapes with low to mid bit error numbers. Much better construction than Tascam decks with lots of metal in the transport.

Like Nick, I've used the SV-3700 for close to ten years and have only needed to have it serviced once. It is a good solid DAT recorder, and you do still see them everywhere.
I personally would not buy any DAT machine used, however, as the parts are very delicate and they can get touchy with use. Better to buy new.
