The only effects unit I've owned so I can't really compare, but I like it. It might have been beginner's luck but I found it very easy to use from the moment I got it out of the box. Impressive presets, and very easy to tweak and store your own patches. The two-digit display isn't a hindrance, reverbs are good, delays are good, modulation is good. The manual is nice and short and to the point. I wouldn't like to lose it though. No complaints really. The input at the back is apparently a bad thing, but to be honest I just set it how I liked the first time and haven't touched it since. It's a unit that does what it does; it doesn't blind you with science or tax your brain like some pieces of equipment do.

I purchased the Digitech S100 about 2 1/2 years ago. It is a decent low cost unit. Some of the effects are really good. The vocoder effect is a little rough. Words come through much less intelligble than other vocoders I've heard, but it's cool to have it for the money. The reverbs are not very good. They don't have the long shimmery tails of the better units/plugins available. The pitch modulation effects are very good, as well as the rotary speaker effect. The unit looks very good by way of it's blue face, but the small buttons are cheap and difficult to push unless you have narrow, pointed fingers. Overall I like the unit, though those who have a DAW might find using plugins offer more creativity, better sounding reverbs, and more flexibility.
