I've been using the filterqueen as a stand alone instrument, plugging the input into the output which creates a feedback loop, and with an 1/8 plug adapter that allows for two signals to pass from one I/O, I run the output into a mixing board. Sometimes I've used 4 of this type of adapter, one for each I/O, so that I may use the aux/send, and also have a signal run into line input. I can effect the signal with the signal, you know what I mean. I can imagine that to some of you this may sound pretty wack, but I've had a lot of fun.

The Filter Queen is lots of fun no matter what you run through it. In fact, I just spent about 10 minutes playing with the sounds I can make with it using just static as a source. Build quality seems to be very very good, knobs and buttons feel great. However, I have a few minor but irritating issues (at least with my unit). First, it's noisy. There is a very noticable difference in the amount of that irritating staticy sound with a quiet signal running through it between having it bypassed and engaged. It blends in depending on volume level, but right now while using headphones it's very annoying. Secondly, it could use a little added smoothness when you press the 'engage' or 'momentary' buttons...again, not a big deal with louder signals, but it seems to noticably 'click' on. This probably has to do with the first issue (added noise when engaged). Overall, a rather well-rounded filter, especially with the LFO, but could use a little refining, and hopefully that'll happen if Electrix gets back in the game like they've been saying they will.

I'm giving the unit a 8 cus now its selling for ulder $100 at Musicians Friend, Guitar Center, and everywhere elce I can mingle a deal. This unit has supurb analog filter. But it lacks self oscilation' evin at 24Db LPF Mode (a feature I was hoping it would have). But nonetheless, you are capable of very tame and fat filter sweeps. I piticularly like the HPF (High pass filter) on this thing.

I have compared this also to the Electrix Filter Factory (not side to side), and I must tell you that the two sound quite differnt in terms of sonic enhancement. (Well not so 'quite') The Filter Queen is quite effective (no pun intended!). I patched though a Alt Stereo Bus insert on my mixer, so whenever I want to engage the filter, I just flip one of the mute switches on my mixer.

I have a Korg ER-1 and I cant resist tweeking my drum patterns. If you would like to hear how I used the filter queen in my production, check out '' ,I used filter queen on several intruments simutaniously, especialy the ER-1, very wickked DnB and Industrial potential. To sum it all up, filter queen is easy to use, and you will find a use for it in all of your productions, I promice you :)

Oh I almost forgot to mention, the Envilope Folower and LFO only work at positive polarity, so it will be kinda hard to get sqelchys withe the LPF, but Envelope folower is beutiful on the HPF :)
