I believe you're thinking of the KMS-105, yes condensers doesn't come much better than that. I also think that the Beta 58a is possibly the best dynamic mic, at least its very good. Still, I cannot emphasise the following enough: with mics, ALWAYS try before you buy. Amplifying voices is a complicated thing to say the least, and all voices do indeed sound different.

This was a huge step up from the SM58, which was my previous mic, it really is in another class altogether, with greater clearity upper mid-range (yet has that famous Shure-fullness in the mid-range) and top-end, nice and a precise and not to dominating bass (unlike the Roede NT-3 where the bass eats the mix when recording). Everything sounds very natural even when doing close up vocals, I can not recommend it enough. It is perfect for recording in my home studio, A very good dynamic supercardioid mic. Works great on drums etc. also. Check it out, esp if you're on a budget. If money is no issue you might go for something like a Neumann MKS-150 instead, a great condenser, but it's 5 times the price (and, IMO, not 5 times the sound). The Beta holds up well even when compared to expensive high-end stuff, and, its possibly the best for live performance. It cannot transform you're singing and i.e. add subtle nuances to low-voices recordings like some expensive tube-mics, but if you have a decent singing voice the Beta 58a will amplify this in a very natural way, that's a promise.
