I had an mbox 2 for 15 months, then it broke. During that time, it was nonstop updating drivers, firmware, emails back and forth to tech support to resolve it's non stop issues. It was a total pain.
The preamps are noisy. I had, (based on online forums) what appears to be a common issue of high pitched interference bleeding through the preamps. Digidesign had me purchase a $40.00 monster usb cable to resolve the issue. It did nothing. When used in logic, it left pops and clicks in the recorded audio. It constantly crashed and froze my computer. And was a crapshoot when it came to protools recognizing that it was connected, usually involving multiple reboots, and plugging/unplugging of usb cables.
When it finally died 3 months out of warranty, I was left in the cold with a giant blue $400.00 paperweight (with a handle). (Though they were kind enough to offer to repair it for another $300)
I've never had such a bad experience with any manufacturer, in all my years working in recording. Don't expect any useful customer support unless you're willing to pay $2.50 a minute for it. I feel like a sucker. I purchased PT/Mbox2 against all the advice of all my colleagues (I'm a logic user) and now I feel like an idiot.
Stay away from the mbox 2.
