I have been using cooledit pro 1.2a for a year doing demos and I can honestly say that it has served me well. Editing and functionality is a breeze and you can get alot of work done immediately. I wish it had more pluggins and realtime effects.Mix down is great and it is stable. Also if your machine does crash the conntinue feature once you have rebooted keeps all sessions and tracks you have worked on. Great Idea!!!!!!! I am still waiting for a midi editor. This program works on a amdk6II's as well as pentiums so go for it.

One of the best features is the batch processing. While editing a large number of speech files, I found it useful to have cooledit open all my files, edit them, filter them and save them without me having to do anything. Very big time saving feature.

Perfect. So easy. No frills no thrills multitracker. Straight to the point and I like that. I love the integrated audio editor. No crashes.. it's so very stable.
Now a CoolEditPro multitracker AND midi sequencer would be just awesome if Syntrillium did their stuff right. They're very capable of it.

I can see why the BBC use it. It is a very powerful digital multitrack system.
Certainly up there with Soundforge, Wavelab and Acid. I have access to Pro Tools and it has a very simular feel to it. Also the ability to find/select a loop works brilliantly when editing speech samples. Ok if it had real time effects and timestretching like Acid and the ability to patch in plugins when needed ala Wavelab 3 I would give it a perfect ten. But it is a serious piece of software. For recording upto 64 tracks (if your machine is capable) from using just a standard soundcard has to be some feat of software programing.
