Never heard preamps as bad! That makes this unit useless.

I agree with mikolon the bit about gain too, especially on the line inputs. There's no gain. I've changed my opinion to...
BUY WITH CAUTION.

Crap, no gain! But apart from that it is OK. But i would avoid Alesis products because their FX units do not live long.

First up I think the title 'Studio 24' is a little misleading. What you get is 8 mono channels and 4 stereo (manufacturers always count each stereo channel as 2 channels to sound impressive), plus 8 tape returns and 2 stereo aux returns.
It's a real good mixer for the price - versatile, clean sounding and the insert on all the channels, groups and main out enable you to add extra processing to get the mixes pumpin.
I goota say though that my mixer fried itself about 2 days before the warranty expired. It was fully replaced, the company saying that there was a fault in the manufacture of it. Whether this was amn isolated case or they are a problematic mixer I don't know. I've had no problems since and am more than happy with it.
I don't give it a full 10 because it's cramped, and also because my first one died. Otherwise - evrything's cool.
