Distressors are great utility compressors but don't think for a moment that they emulate vintage designs. They are, however good on most anything and great on some things. They definitely have their own sound, which a love/hate thing with a lot of engineers. If you want the mojo of the old stuff then buy the old stuff- if you want a good workhorse then get a Distressor basically.
