oh yes, you can stop samples playing by setting the sample polyphony to mono, then set a note to the point of the pattern at wich you wish the sample to stop playing and set the volume bar of this note to a minimal value, one pixel above the lowest, but not to "none/0" because at this setting the note would be ignored and the sample would play on.

but i dont know, if that is possible in version 2.7, i have version 3.4. look for it at kazaa!
