Heh, yeah, I agree with Mute, that other reviewer didn't know what he was talking about. Buzz beats out many expensive programs on everything but the interface. And it usually beats the interface IMO.

Loading up a kAway synth with 7 different waveforms, and then creating a fat lowpass sweep... that, that is a good feeling (sounds oberheim-ish). Or how about hooking up a VoidSynthII to a chorus, cross delay, and a reverb, and then writing a cool prog style synth solo. Or take the Speccy II out for a bit of retro fun. Not to mention the other FEW HUNDRED other machines.

In response: First, Buzz is better than Cubase in several ways, so start feedin'. Second of all Buzz is v1.2 not 1.8. This is old. And the 909 isn't the best machine... SuperDonutDrums is!!! (inside joke... get buzz and find out)

Buzz isn't the only piece of software I use.. but I hate it when people talk with authority on things they apparently know nothing about. This guy (his text is below mine) has no idea what he's talking about (he's COMPLETELY wrong on all accounts, except for some issues with VSTi's.. but this is made up for by several sweet native buzz generators. some of which are leaps and bounds above most freeware and many paid VSTi's). Programming is a sinch, and it's ADVANTAGE, rather than its weakness. Also...imagine a world where you can chain VST instruments and effects. As many as you want. Welcome to buzzville.

For any of you wondering about the parameters.. its not bad at all. First off, you can record your tweaks realtime, easily. Second off, if the machine has oodles of parameters you can get the plugin by Cyanphase called Overloader, which not only adds more scrollbars to windows, but also enables things like mousewheel, Favorite Machines, Different harddrive recorders, streaming out to winamp, etc,. etc,. etc,.

---------------------------- crackhead:

Buzz has some glaring weaknesses: Can't change bpm in a song (still a tracker) halfass midi halfass VST support basses lack balls, esp. acid sounds Some bigger generators' (3osc 4lfo monsters) parameters can't be changed in real time cuz they don't fit on the damn screen, unless i run it at 1600x1200

Mute from usa writes:
Buzz _IS_ a multitracker. ASIO is also supported. The 909 is FAR from being the best machine. Midi is adequate once you can figure out all the control machines involved.

You CAN change BPM... by tracking the master output. For those who don't know Buzz, just imagine a free audio "lego" proggy, letting you join synth, samplers and fx. Check out www.buzzmachines.com for full list of plugins...

It could be prettier (except for Jeskola Mixer, damn).

i still love buzz though. if oskari keeps up the good work (and finds a some more recent beta code) i'll feed cubase to my dog. In the meantime, its the sketchpad of God.
