A lot of professional mix engineers have this in thier kit list as it appears to be fast and easy to jam new parts for a tune. Where it still falls down is the integration into other DAW software so you can run it like an instrument from within your work environment

I have used reason on countless projects a quite a few records. It was the first app of its kind (besides Logic), and I eagerly jumped at it to get away from my samplers and SampleCell card. I do experience frustrations with the sequencer now and then, but also appreciate its straigtforwardness.

The real secret to this app is using other sample libraries. I rarely use the stock stuff. The other secret is to always run it thru a DAW. Far better sound quality, which tells me that the dithering process at the very end of its chain is problematic. When I have Reason running w/Nuendo (Mac v1.52, OS 9), the sound is great. Those two apps lock together so flawlessly you really forget exactly what it is you're doing.

"the mixer really should have 4 band eq with parametric/sweepable hi mid / low mid controls"

Ditto...would be great!

I EQ with a variety of other sources...but for an all in one portable would be an awesome addition to have Para EQ's on each channel within the mixer in Reason. Perhaps 'real' Inserts would be a nice touch too..

But I have a feeling, features like this are a matter of time.

'till then, I still recommend Rewiring to your favourite audio app.

You see...... we can request feature after feature for Reason, but in the end, we find that most of the xtra's we are requesting are already available as a mature feature of one of the 'big boy HD/seq/ apps' Cubase or Sonar or Logic or 'Toolz etc etc etc.

So while it would be cool to have them in Reason alone, I feel that anyone vaguely serious about getting 'the sound' that they complain Reason can't provide alone, will devote a reasonable amount of their income to obtaining other software and h'ware that allows them the freedom they desire.

They basically aren't going to get 'that sound' for what $ 300?

less, more./...depends where you are, u live

for what Reason does......and what PRops charge for it:

Been using reason for a year or so now and msut admit I haven;t fallen in love with it. It can be frustrating getting the desired results. After reading som of the other reviews it seems I need to link up with cubase or protols.

Although I find it has limitations, this is an excellent program which is worth a purchase.
