I can't seem to get a phat sound out of reason even after compression and mastering.I chuck it on a good stereo and it sounds all thin, hollow and shit

My first piece of proper music software, have had it for 4 years and it just keeps on getting better the more you use it. I´m now using it with protools and Live and it´s a match made in heaven.
I often make the whole song in reason, then record some live stuff into protools or Live, and import that into reason to mangle the sound even more, so much fun.
Interoperability through rewire has been flawless, and the Niggle that Speck0 has is actually a bonus, as you cen set multiple outputs from reason to protools, using multiple inserts, I often send melody, drums etc. seperately to protools for final mixdown.
Well worth the price tag.

Unweildy? hah! I weild it like an axe! It is very easy to use & very 'weildy' in capable hands. For software it is incredibly well designed. for instance, you never need to leave the one window. The sequencer is very straightforward yet powerfull. The routing system is straightfoward as far as hardware style routing is concerned.
MPC is non comparable other than it samples and makes noise! Comparing Reason & the MPC is like comparing logs and metal bars. They are different substance, and use. Although I suppose you could beat someone over the head with either a log or a metal bar...just like you can make music with either mpc or reason or whatever else...but they are so different I don't think they compare fairly for the basis of a review.

nice sounding with lots of capabilities. downside is that its unweildy... like most pc based systems. still prefer MPC even with its comparative limitations
