This program is terribly great for the money it costs. The people that say it isn't fat sounding aren't programming their sounds right, make use of the compressors and other effects, they make a big difference. You can make any kind of music you want to right out of the box, but probably want to get some sample cd's or get samples of the net. If you buy this, you will not be disappointed.

It's a great little program! Well, its not so little, but...

i actually paid for my copy of Reason 1.0, and im very impressed with it. The interface is amongst the most wicked ive ever seen or used. Want to really dig in? hit tab and go cord crazy. the cords even wiggle! Subtractor sounds decent, so does everything else. I wish there were better drum kits for REdrum, but thats ok, make your own! The EFX are nice too. Very simple to use. As for the naysayers...Propellerheads mentioned on their site..Reason 1.01 was released to iron out the current bugs before expanding and ugrading the actual program. That means that the WOULD like to expand. So in the near future, we could see more synthesizers..maybe more Analogue modelling..maybe Wavetable..maybe even PCM?? (nah, sampler already has that covered)..but maybe P-heads will let NN19 be able to read Akai files..We jus gotta wait and see..this software is pretty new. Give it sometime to catch on..and just wait for the Novation REmote to ship..Reason will walk the Earth as king proggie...

Do any of you critics in here truly believe that Trent Reznor of NIN would waste his time programming Reason patches and sequences for the new NIN record if it wasn't one dope piece of gear?

Please - spare us all......

Reason can do virutally anything that anything before it has done - you just have to LEARN how to do it....

average sound, clunky interface, one of the worst looking drum editors ever. Reason has a good sound set, for stock and you can tweek it pretty good but overall I find it way overpriced. I really dig the interface and expandability of fruity 3, a much better program, especially with the new blows subtractor out of the water. For price ease of use and expandability FL3 beats reason hands down

I made a little test. I tested the filters(Subtractor synth) with one saw osc, and Reason came out last. Dreamstation's filters are great, it can make really phat sounds. Also Rebirth and TS-404 beat Reason(by far). However Reason does sound really good. It is just not phat sounding. But with all the other possibilities Reason makes the best overall program ever.
