Yeah it's the shit, too bad it isn't available in DXi. Sonar + Reason = Yummm. If you ever tried Sonar you don't wanna go back to Cubase.

In my view Reason is the perfect companion to Cubase VST 5. I use this combination a lot, running Reason's audio into Cubase through ReWire. Then I can use whatever VST effect I want on that sound. This is not to say that Reason's effects aren't good in their own right. Especially the phaser is my favorite, for those wide pads that move around in stereo. I also love building wicked beats using both ReDrum and the Rex player (my main style is Drum 'n Dass and some IDM).

Reason works remarkably stable with Cubase as well... the combo almost never crashed on me (just once, really).

The Subtractor synth is great and I regard it as one of the best sounding soft synths ever. Actually, the only other soft synth I really like for straightforward musical purposes is the Waldorf PPG Wave emulation. I love the PPG's rugged sound, whereas the Subtractor is a bit more subdued, which makes for a great combo.

All in all, Reason is great fun and you can get up to speed making music fast. ReWire works very fine and makes the program a blast to wotk with Cubase as well. All you need for the rest is creativity and musicality... so get going ;)

I think Reason is nice I mainly use it to get the fat drum sounds, the sampler needs to have an intergrated recording function for convenience, the synth is good for some but I make hip hop so that aint my thing. I think some people spend huge amounts on studio equipment than get pissed when software offers the same sound quality at the fration of the price ps. someone is getting blast wow ROC, dammm

If you want our music to sound like millions of others who use Reason, then yeah, Reason is the way to go. Your tracks will have this robotic feel (no human feel whatsoever). I guess Reason is good for techno and for people who don't know how to play real instruments (perhaps that's why it's called "Reason").

REASON is by the far the most amazing software release for music in the past several years. Depsite people's rants regarding what it should or should not have, REASON is was it is, and what it is - IS SIMPLY AMAZING! I have worked with hardware and software alike, from Akia to Ensoniq samplers, from Pro Tools to not-so-pro tools, and REASON is by far an exemplary peice of software. Kudos to the Props for releasing such an amazing piece of work; I trust it will be updated regularly with interesting add-ons, but for now - it simply rocks!
