I got the BR-8 in Christmas of 2001. Can't say enough about it. It's simple and powerful at the same time. It's a great tool for making your music sound professional. With little time figuring out how to record it.

I have to agree with Dave Sherrif: the original reviewer had his head up his you know what. Obviously he doesn't have the intelligence to figure out even the most simplest things (like the BR-8). Don't let him fool you, this machine is a wonder! Easy to use, great sound quality, great editing, everything! As far as the limited capacity and expense of the Zip goes, I bought 5 disks off a guy on Ebay and paid $25, including shipping. Here's a really cool tip a friend gave me: If you are recording several guitar harmonies and it looks as though you are going to run out of tracks, record the harmonies on seperate v-tracks (i.e. one harmony on a v-track on track 1, another on a v-track on track 2 and so on) and then, after you have all the harmonies you need, bounce them all down to tracks 7 and 8 if you want them in stero. You will still have overall fader control over all the harmonies plus a seperate control for the main lead guitar that has already been recorded on another track. With a little experimenting you can do almost endless things with the BR-8,...buy it,..it's cool.

BR-8 Boss digital recorder..I am very close to buying one.would like to here what people think about it,the positives and negitives,as compared to the Yamaha Md4s...one thing about the disk space on the BR-8,how about if you have a zip drive on your computer load the finished song on the computer and free up the zip drive for another song..( does this make any sence)

I was looking for a 4 track cassette recorder and my friendly dealer showed me a bunch......then he showed me this Boss BR8. Looked at the video (well half of it), pulled out my plastic and .......... I love this little thing! It has everything a guitar playing, songwriter needs to produce decent sounding demos and it's fun and easy to use, as everyone else has pointed out. I can even make my strat sound like a bass.....cool! The price of 100 meg zip discs is another story..........well there has to be a drawback I suppose. I can't see anyone regretting the purchase of this baby, however.
