I have used MOTU 828 for 18 mos. with Vegas 4.0, and now 5.0., on a PC. It works flawlessly!! Vegas recognizes all channels(spdif, etc), and records up to 8 mono/4 stereo at a time with NO NOTICEABLE latency. I could not get it to work well with Cubase, Sonar, Ableton, or several other software programs. Vegas 5.0, though noted for it's amazing video applications, has outstanding audio capabilities.

I have owned my 828 for about two years now and there have been a lot of new ad/da converters now in the market but I still can't find a reason to upgrade, this thing just works so damn well, very clean sound and nice pre amps too.

The unit seems well built and is is an advantage to have the two preamps included. I have not tried on a mac but I never had any luck with the PC. It would not function with my sony laptop (win98se) but that may have been an issue with the laptop itself. I set it up with my high spec PC under xp and did not reach any latency under 11ms as I have with other cards. It did not seem to handle as well as the delta 1010 that I had used and it is not 2496 in spec. It was also very difficult to setup with SX and I remember having to manually enter buffer sizes to get it to sync. Whenever I turned the volume knob it created a crackling sound in the speakers. The unit seemed to me another one of those great concepts that is not quite finished on the software side. I have heard great things about it from people using macs.
