The tapes are not Betamax, For recording it uses a proprietary 1/2" tape cassette called MJ20k.
If you search the net you can still find them for around $20.00

as my home recorder/mixer, it fits the job, though a submixer are nedeed, but it«s hard to find one that have as smooth faders like the mg1213 has. (only measure 6 cm long.) Everything about this machine has a truly shimmer of good semiprostandard. from transport control til« eq. It«s hard to rate the price, you should consider following if buying:tapes. do you get any? it uses small 1" betamax tape, very pricey 35am.dollar each for 20min. If you are home user, buy an 12track digital insted. This is a essential item for analog freaks I got it cheap with 40tapes /550dollar. don«t forget the remote, good luck
