The AW2816 isnt really that hard to use the manual is pretty simple, the presets for the dynamics are pretty strong so you might want to adjust your settings to make them easier. I still have used all of its features yet, but within a few days if you take your time you will be recording in no time. The effects are ok but I think that Rolands effects are warmer, but the AW2816 is easier to use than roland the quick record makes it real easy. Well thats my .02 cents
