I also have the UM1 but use it on a PC platform. The USB portability is fantastic as I can swap from my desktop machine straight to the laptop without having to re-boot. Web-site support with up to date drivers for all platforms is great but when will Roland follow most of the other manufacturers and provide manuals via the Web?

ok. i noticed no one has rated this baby. so i will be the first. the Edirol midi units are the bestest bang for your buck. i actually only have the UM-1, but the only difference between the two is that the UM-2 has 2 midi ins and 2 midi outs. wish i had one of those...but hey, i don't. the UM-1 i use with logic, cubase, battery, and many others. it is awesome, to say the least. all it does it what you wanted it to. response time is fast, and under mac OS there is no trouble getting it going. i would assume pc would be no trouble as well. i paid 60 bucks. i love it. edirol is a roland subsidary, so this product is nicely made, portable, and hotswappable because of USB. buy it. cheap, nice, no complaints other than how gay it looks all baby blue and shit...
