These are great fo beginner, or hobby-ist producers, engineers, dj's etc. I started out with the newer BX8a which have a great sound and tone quality. One down side of these are the poor requency response on especially low end frequencies. luckily, the mids and hi's are very decent. you way want to to consider investing in a good subwoofer to make up for the lost low end EQ. Other than that these monitors re definetly worth giving a shot, test them out, see how you like them. i run a logic based studio and producer primarily hip hop/rap/R&B and they worked for me.
