I think this is not a very user friendly product. I have a new lap top and it interfaces with it very poorly. I highly recommend selecting a different unit!

All the problems listed by other users have been fixed in later releases of the drivers, downloadable from the Tascam website. I have never had a problem with the US-428, and recommend it without hesitation.

I have used this with my mac and I get all sorts of audio clicks and pops almost every time I try to record something with it. I am not sure if it is an issue with the usb connection but the next card/module I am buying will have firewire just in case my problems are because usb sucks for recording. I may keep the us-428 as a controller for my software however because it works great as that but the $500 is a little spendy for just a controller. I would suggest passing on this one.

Nice controller..major bugs with laptops where you have to reload drivers nearly every time you restart the computer. Intermittent clicking that wouldn't go away with buffer changes and device driver sweep..rather confusing in that respect.
