Sure it's good, but I wouldn't give it a 10. The treble is quite static and digital sounding, which is a problem for a highpass filter freak like myself. It sounds best when the cutoff isn't maxed out. Great for bass, pads and fx, but I reckon it isn't that great for cutting leads. I sold my hardware synths (Alpha Juno-1, Bass Station Rack and Electribe A) after getting this and I now feel something's missing. ES2's modulation flexibility is a big plus though. And of course the fact that it comes "free" with logic pro :)

the es2 has changed how I look at soft synths period! I never liked software synths because the sounded "weak" and lacked that virtual sound that I have come to love from VA's. I might just sell a hardware syth because the es2 has totally taken over a large section of my virtual tracks. Only absynth2 from native instruments and reaktor have impressed me. But the es2 interface is just as good as a hardware. Just program a midi controller to get the full effect of working with the es2 live.

Emagic's ES|2 is IMHO one of the best soft synths out there. I used the demo once, and I knew I had to get it, The GUI is very friendly to use, but if you are not a synth person the ES|1 might be better for you. The "modulation" section is great, as you can patch signals to just about anywhere in the synth. It can really produce just about any synth sound out there. And it does not suffer from the "does it better" syndrome going on right now from other softhardware synth lines who claim to be the one shop stop for all of your synth needs. It is an Emagic soft synth, so you get you moneys worth period.

Has anyone got any other info about the ES2? How would it compare to a Waldorf microQ which I own but I'm going to sell (bad UI) ?
