I love my Reaktor! I run it as a standalone on all 3 machines, and sometimes as a VST in Cubase LE on the big XP box which I built for it. You need the fastest box you can get, and a lot of RAM, this thing is not for tiny consumer machines - it's a toolkit more than an instrument. I run mine on three surplus touchscreens live, no mouse required to play it, just use your finger. Best app I own, hands down - room for ENDLESS creativity and design. Long learning curve for complete synth design beginners though.

The best sounding piece of software out there right now. Nothing sounds better, wether it's for analog emulation or experimental synthesis. Everything Reaktor does is good - from effects, analog emulation, sample mangling, compression, etc. This synth has effectively killed my gear lust. Once you devle into the program, it is amazing. The user library has something like 1800 ensembles. If you dont plan on building your own ensembles from scratch, get Reaktor Sessions. For only 200$ you can do everything Reaktor does except build your own ensembles. Same sound quality, same ensemble loading, same everything.

For those on Macs having problems, it has been proven the Macs arent powerful enough to run Reaktor unless you have a dual G5. Don't blame NI for that, blame Apple.

A 10 out of 10. The best synth made right now outside of the Andromeda 6. Blows the Arturia emulations out of the water.

Actually, everyone I know that owns a Mac, myself included, knows their way around a computer very comfortably. Most of us are programmers, graphic designers and professional musicians. Macs are great if you can afford the top of the line. PCs are great because they are super cheap. Both have their place in my heart. Reaktor is brilliant and cures my need for hardware completely. I run it on a PC since my Mac is older and can't deal.

Reaktor requires some nursing at times. It will occasionally belch, yes, but I'l giving this a ten. I even use it for reverb sometimes. Synths, efx, samplers. VA, FM, Additive, Wavetable, Samplers. Drum machines galore. Strange drone ensembles. wanky studio ensembles. It just does not end. To be honest, the sound could be a hair nicer. I don't use this for analog emulation for that reason. Also, the openness of this platform means that sometimes an ensemble isn't finely tuned to sound as nice for a certain synthesis type as you'd hope. But nit goes very deep. Good in that there's so many tools, especially handy in the studio. Bad because, well it takes patience to build something.I don't find the audio quality to be as consistantly excellent over a wide range of settings as my Nord Modular or Korg Oasys. But as a tool alongside those it's indispensable. A ten. I'm using a PC, btw, so maybe mac users should disregard this. In the d/l section of the user library there are always mac users leaving remarks like "this doesn't work with my damn mac!". I'd almost think one could go as far as buying a pc just for this and using vstack, though. Peace.
