Totally #$%@#$ brilliant piece of software. The filters...oh god, the filters...
It has its down points...some of the effects aren't great, and it requires a bit of knowledge of additive synthesis before you can generate any sounds that don't resemble pipe organs.
BUt once you get past that stuff, there's so much sheer power hidden behind a decptively simple interface. Filters, analyzers, a stunningly beautiful vocoder (hiding within the "formant filter" menu option), waveshaping for some unreal distortions, plus the usual gamut of sample hacking tools.
Once you've played with MetaSynth, there's no going back.

Metasynth is one of the most mind-altering and expanding audio programs I have ever seen or heard. It creates, alters, morphs, and effects sounds using visual information. Once you step in the door it is difficult to come back out.
You have to go to the website or check out a demo to glimpse what this program is about, as words fall short.
A magnificent piece of work!
