I have had the deeps with the 10G drive for 3yrs. I took a good year to produce decent material material on it but, once you become very familiar with it and read the entire manual you'll find it to be an amazing tool.

I hate it! It lost all my songs. I had 35songs saved on there and when I went to buy a Harddrive to backup my songs they were no longer being made. Gret so here I am with 35songs I can't backup, whats the worse thing that can happen? I called an Idiot Akai technition and they gave me some bad directions on how to save data and bam all 35+ songs of mine where lost...plus on top of that I was suppossed to send them to an A&R at sony....GGRRRR!!!!!! besides my MPC I probably wont be buying any other akai products!!!

For me the DPS12 is a very useful and intuitive recorder. Recording, editing and mixing are very easy and the overall sound of the recorder is very good. The only negative points about this machine are the too complicated effect routing and the not very reliable Jaz drive.

Over all this recorder is fantastic. Full of features, high quality recording, easy to use JUST DONT GET A JAZZ DRIVE of ANY type they are pure junk and have caused me hell.
BUT the recorder iteself, fantastic.
