One of the most affordable all-around music production softwares on Earth.. With a sound engine that rivals even flagship products, its only distinct weaknesses are the still-shaky MIDI support and the lack of built in Audio recording. My favorite aspect of Renoise is the easy to use interface, especially for someone who doesn't like Piano rolls and Midi keyboards.

Low price (50 $). Free updates from 1.x to 2.x. Extremely feature packed. VST(i) support. Automation. MIDI support (and import). Developing all the time. Easy to get into for trackers. Most important of all: renoise inspires creativity and opens up untraditional routes.
