I think I'm going to start telling everyone I know that the Fostex MR8 is a nice machine but that the Fostex Help Desk doesn't exist. As well, I will need to ad to that , that Musician Friend will be happy to sell you one and offer all kinds of "support" and "Help" via their web page but it is DOUBTFUL that they will ever answer you back when you ask for help. This will be the third time I have e-0mailed Musicians Friend asking for a little help relating to the MR8 that I bought at the Kansas City outlet.

Here goes - I can't seem to get files to return to the Mr* once I have saved them to my desk top. Even though, when I click on the "send to" icon that says it will send it to the MR8 card F. I click on it and nothing happens. It shows the file on the computer screen but it doesn't appear on teh MR8 when I hit the "songs" list or show up inside any files listen on the MR8 - so PLEASE tell me. What am I doing wrong?

sound quality is ok but you do get what you pay for. build quality is awfull. buttons break easily and sometimes take extra force to activate or will fail altogether. no internal harddrive means your work is toasted if some error occurs to your compact flash card. onboard effects sound noisy and cheap. this is cheap alternative to recording so don't expect professional results.

i suppose that for around $300 and you have a large capacity flash card, this is a cost-effective and easy to use recorder. sound quality is decent, but a tad bit noisy. bass tends to distort. on board effects are no better. operating system only lets you export to a pc. the worst feature about this unit, however, is its build quality, be prepared to deal with buttons that break off inside the casing and tracks that mysteriously delete when you convert to WAV's. save your money and use software instead.
