The PPG Wave 2v is a very good emulation of the original PPG Wave because the sound generation of the original was mainly digital, so it was easy to be made. I love this plug in, and I was able to create favourite patches I've heard in Tangerine Dream albums, very quickly. The SSM filter simulation is good, (Waldorf is famous for the filters digital or analog they made) but I think it's the wavetable raw sound it has that made it special. I won't hide it, I would like to have the real thing, but about now it's a lot of money for me, so I'm satisfied with the plug-in. PPG Wave is the best digital synth of all ages.

Having used the PPG Wave 2.3 5 or 6 years ago I must say that this software version of it is more than brilliant !! Ofcourse you'll never be able to recreate the touch and feel of the "real" thing (which is big enough to be used as a dinner table), but soundwise there's nothing, and I mean NOTHING, to be worried about. Absolutely fabulous !!!!! 10 out of 10 !!

I don't really care about the what the real PPG was or even is right now. All I know is this self sufficient minimal little synth rocks! Great filters! So liquid. Tons of waveforms to make analog or non analog and what not. So much possibility with this synth. Will fit in any mix. I absolutely love it.

Being a somewhat older VSTi the PPG 2v holds up well to newer synths. Part of this is the PPG sound and ability to use multimbrally. The layout is somewhat difficult and the manual explains what functions are but now how they relate. A programming tutorial would be welcomed plus. Sound wise it's a great sounding plugin for unusual sounds and as stated in the first page for sounds that didn't suck from the 80's. I've never had a problem with the PPG 2v, it's light on the processor and loaded with enough presets to get anyone started. Expensive compared to most shareware but worth it.
