This is an interesting synth, part FM, part AM mixed with features typical of subtractive style synth features like several resonant filters with envelopes. Somewhat complex and not as powerful as something like Native Instrument's FM-7, still this is one killer synth for unusual sounds. Rainbow 2.2 will do typical timbres too but there's so many other soft synths that do this. Several patches I've checked out remind me of the Kawai K5000S which is a huge compliement. Again, Rainbow 2.2 isn't a K5k killer but it has a sound you really need to try. The shareware version gives you a good idea of what is possible. On a slow computer (Celeron 600) and echo Darla24 I was able to get 2 instances along with Attack, Battery, and 4 other VSTi's. It is a little power hungy but you get a lot of sound per instance. It would have been nice to see a multitimbral version and some more in depth editing. A matrix would be nice as would a smaller, page based screen similar to Jasonsoft's Rebel2. For it's cost it's a great deal. Love the simple onboard sequencer. The manual is good although a bit more example patches would have been a good thing.

An interesting VSTi - works nicely with my copy of Micrologic AV 4.7.2 as well. It doesn't seem to consume too much CPU, only a few percent, but my DAW is a PIII-784 (yeah an overclocked 700) with 512MB of RAM so your mileage may vary. It's capable of a wide range of electronic sounds, some of which I can't get out of my other soft synths (VSampler and Dreamstation) so it fits well into the mix. Can't beat the price, either - it's a steal for the $65US I spent for it.

About the only complaint is the size of the UI, I'm glad I'm running in 1024x768 - the sucker fills up a good portion of the screen (that's why an 8 and not a 10).
