Also marketed as Tracer SAS sound card (tracertek.com) for $159 or $199 with digital I/O. Probably nothing better for the price. Line 2 has very low noise, great for recording lp's to cd's. Tracer's card includes Diamond Cut restoration tools. A little lacking on the connectors (1/8" miniplugs) and the documentation, but still a great buy.

Excellent sound...once you figure out how to get it working. Some of the software needs work. It's a bit buggy. Line 2 in is VERY impressive (they don't mention it though). It's got very little noise, and very good freq. response. The Dream synth sounds incredible. Bypassing the DAC on the cd-rom drive (using the cd-rom digital out to the ST128), gives a good example of how great the sound is on this card. If you buy this card the Hoontech Digital I/O Board III is recommended. It is great for Optical/Coaxial/AES/EBU IO. Not much money for such a great add-on. Hoontech really needs to hire some good programmers for the software side, and get some people that could write their manuals for them (VERY poor English, hard to understand), and then they'd truly have one of the best deals around in sound cards.

Well, well.. After a weeks trying to install the Midi-drivers to the card i gave up and bought a USB-Midiinterface.. and then, WOW!.. It really sounds great. I erally like the 8 Wave-drivers it have.. This make it a great card for people using softsynths. no problem at all... Even if i had to buy an external Midiinterface, it was well spent money buying this card... An extra plus for the Digital CD player availeble for the Card on the net. This makes it really cool to listen to cd via the computer. No 16 bit.. pure 20bit...
+ Great sound + 8 Wave drivers
- I didnt get the Midi-devices to work

Overall performance of ST128 is good. But, there're SO MANY PROBLEMS to use this card. 1st, hardware problem - if you use not intel(r) board, it maybe happen problems within hardware error. 2nd, not support NT driver completely. NT System users don't have any solution of this. 3rd, bundle software is clap. Mixer s/w is too fussy. And CD-ROM title is clap, too.
