I have a 01v with my8at card, and compared with my mackie 1202 vlz pro, the mic pres in 01v sounds more "thiny" than mackie vlz pro pres. I record acoustic instruments with 1202 pres and direct outputs and a symetrix 620 a/d converter, directly into Saw Studio (Running in 24 bits). And then mixdown into Sawstudio (Dither to 16 bits in saw studio too) the results are obviusly better than mixing all together in 01v via ADAT my8at.

I think that if you drives the input levels and the internal levels in 01v peaking at -6 db (max) and adding L2 ultramaximizer in 24 bits or adding an analog compressor or tube stage at the end of the chain, the 01v sounds more "fat",

Another note: If you use Reason, Gigastudio, VSTi and DXi instruments and plugins, i suggest this mixer is for you, but if you use the mixer to MDM tracking, or live apps this mixer not have the enough headroom!

Thanks!

Diego.

totally agree,it sounds thin even ur source is warm and thick, after go thru it'll become thin and cold,a real digital crappy magic...i think the new 24bit 01v more better, hsven't used one but i used aw4416 and the differences are obvious, sounds better than any 01v/03d/old 02r...
