This is a great instrument microphone, but definitely does not beat SM57 with drums(snare/tom). The sound is too thin/hissing for vocal use. D3800 is far better with vocals. Front monitor feedback and handling noise is eliminated quite well.

You get three D3700's for the price of one D3800; I'd say it's a great general-purpose mike. Though professionals ought to re-consider.
