This really is the hands down choice MIDI interface for the PC, I have had a nightmare trying to get a professional quality MIDI interface for my MIDI suite for sometime now, & had the misfortune of using the MOTU & Opcode interfaces being that those have a lot of ports to suit all my gear but the software & install just won't happening, when I finally got the the MOTU to work, it would lock up a lot. This MIDI interface has only dropped out once using a buggy Logic Audio Platinum v4.1 for the PC, but has been flawless with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 which I use now, Cakewalk has the best MIDI timing in any software sequencer I've used & I've went through all of them on the PC platform & Cakewalk is by far the best. So if you want that famous Atari ST MIDI groove feel, then get this interface & Cakewalk, they will blow away any Akai MPC users & all, really! I can't believe something is finally looking up, being the nightmare I went through & all the money I lost trying to find gear hardware/software that would actually work like a dream together, this interface is heaven sent for PC users. You can connect 4 of these (maxx) together using a USB hub giving you a staggering 256 MIDI channels which is more than you really need. The software included workd perfectly, there's a MIDI patch bay & computer by pass sequencer which is awesome to sync by MTC to an external sequencer to a software sequencer etc, Roland have really done their homework with this unit & if you're serious about your music & use the PC & don't use this interface, you're working with 1 arm tied behind your back, thank you Roland. Jam on!

Good Points
Awesome timing, very reliable, USB connection makes for a hassle free install & doesn't conflict being it doesn't use IRQs etc, can also be used as a MIDI patch bay.
Bad Points
PC has to be turned on for you to use any of the MIDI devices connected to it, no SMPTE.
