16 track portable DAW from FOSTEX, big brother of the VF-08. Overall, very easy to navigate in, especially if one is used to prior FOSTEX products. By reading the 'good' and 'bad' points I've outlined below, it sounds as though I dislike the unit....nothing could be farther from the truth. I'm having a BLAST with the VF-16!

Good Points
non-compressed recording on all tracks; choice of either bussed or direct record on all 16 tracks; 8 "ghost" tracks; comes with 2 banks of proprietary FOSTEX DSP effects; SCSI port for backup; 2 XLR inputs w/phantom power (switchable)
Bad Points
VERY small display...should have provided a VGA out for a monitor; lack of returns (have to sacrifice use of two channels as returns); Effects are wildly varied in quality...some are good, some are extremely metallic and 'clangy'; Ships with relatively small hard drive by modern standards....VF-160 is shipping with HD approx 4 times size of that in VF-16. Manual can be a bit 'circumscribe'.
